	POLSHEK'S KAHN YALE GALLERY RESTORATION The Yale University Art Gallery, designed by Louis Kahn, reopened a few months ago after a three-year restoration and rejuvenation by Polshek Partnership Architects, working with a team of experts in restoration, exhibit design, and other specialties. 	HEARST TOWER Pritzker Prize laureate Norman Foster is a master of levitating buildings of dubious design, treatment, or association to the pantheon of architectural icons. The Hearst Tower in Manhattan, which he designed in collaboration with architects Adamson Associates and Gensler, is the most recent example of this resuscitation. The 42-story glass- and metal-skinned tower is characterized by a large diagonal grid, emphasized by vertically alternating recessed and projecting multistory corner triangles. — Published 2007.0523
	HOUSING TANGO Eight vibrantly colored steel and glass towers dance around a landscaped courtyard, exposing most of the living rooms to the outdoors, with a wall of bedrooms wrapped around three sides of the block. 	CASA MAULEEN On a beach near an abandoned mine on Chile's former "coal coast," the Mauleen House merges historical industrial connections with the raw beauty and energy of the location. 	POSTCARD FROM SHANGHAI Dear ArchitectureWeek, In the interior design of its own three-story office space in downtown Shanghai, China, completed in April 2006, MoHen Design International emphasizes decorative elements. The reception desk is a glass case lit from the inside, an island of light in a dark space. In the main office and work space, cubicles line two opposite walls. Two long faux-finished tables for collaborative work stretch lengthwise down the middle of the room, flanked by furry, bench-style seats. Task lighting drops from the ceiling. — Published 2007.0314
	STRUTTING SPACE Students at Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation have been building complex structures — and in the process learning about parametric modeling, digital fabrication, and computer-assisted assembly. They have been using the Trusset System, developed by Columbia researchers in the Avery Digital Fabrication Laboratory. The system provides an inexpensive and simple method for manufacturing and building a custom-designed, three-dimensional space-truss structure and enclosure. — Published 2007.0214
	BOTTANICAL SPA The Tschuggen Bergoase spa, nestled in the mountains near St. Moritz, Switzerland, takes on a cathedral-like quality. It was designed by Swiss architect Mario Botta who is renowned for his museums and sacred spaces.
