Dear Designers, Builders, and Friends,

ArchWeek Green from the editors of the leading architecture magazine
online brings you weekly sustainable design and building news from
around our planet.

What do your friends and relatives think about climate change? Is it
safe to talk about when relaxing after a turkey dinner?

Is it safe not to talk about it?

A recent article in Nature Reports Climate Change reviews the really
long-term impacts of ongoing carbon dioxide emissions...

The lasting effects of CO2 also have big implications for
energy policies, argues James Hansen, director of NASA's
Goddard Institute of Space Studies. "Because of this long
CO2 lifetime, we cannot solve the climate problem by slowing
down emissions by 20% or 50% or even 80%. It does not matter
much whether the CO2 is emitted this year, next year, or
several years from now," he wrote in a letter this August.
"Instead ... we must identify a portion of the fossil fuels
that will be left in the ground, or captured upon emission
and put back into the ground."

Carbon is Forever

**	ArchitectureWeek is a green publication. By publishing
this professional design and building magazine online-only,
we save about 48 tons of paper monthly, 50 large trees
every week, or 2500 trees (around a dozen acres of mature
conifer forest) each year, compared to reaching a similar
readership on paper - not counting these newsletters!
We provide ongoing pro-bono services to local non-profit
sustainability organizations. And our company offices are
powered by 100% wind energy through our local utility:
