Dear Designers, Builders, and Friends,

Green Wednesday, by the editors of ArchitectureWeek, brings you
weekly green design and building news from around the world.

ArchitectureWeek has issued a provocative call to action on climate
change for architects and industry partners around the world. Our
article lays out a strong case that much more needs to be done,
and then suggests....

We have twelve years until 2020. The cost of missing
targets would be severe. The time to mobilize is now.

What we're proposing to help is a kind of global
architecture strike-and-teach-in in action. We invite
you, your design firm, and all other building-associated
organizations, to join our Planet Earth Partners, and
	make this pledge:

The month of April, Earth Month 2009, will be observed as
a Climate Action Month, during which Planet Partners will
work only on strictly green projects...

This Week's Quiz -
The beautiful Himeji Castle was rebuilt and expanded
starting in the late 1500s, during a period when Japan
was in a continuous state of civil war. The building has
a massive stone wall foundation and upper walls of
compacted flame-resistant plaster. This plaster was
developed in response to what technology introduced by
	Portugal after 1543?

Architecture Answer - for last issue's quiz...
	True or false:

with Chinese architecture were originally introduced to
	China from Japan.
	B. The finest remaining examples of elegantly bracketed
wood temples in the Tang style (China, 618-907) are

ArchitectureWeek is a green publication. By publishing
this professional design and building magazine online-only,
we save about 48 tons of paper monthly, 50 large trees
every week, or 2500 trees a year, compared to reaching a similar
readership on paper - not counting these newsletters!
We provide ongoing pro-bono services to local non-profit
sustainability organizations. And our company offices are
powered by 100% wind energy through our local utility:
