Dear Designers, Builders, and Friends,

Green Wednesday, by the editors of ArchitectureWeek, brings you
weekly green design and building news from around the world.

All-LEED-Platinum really is a significant step in the urgently
needed direction. So, what will it take for _your_ city to get
this far?

GREENSBURG, KS- Though green building techniques started
their popularity on the coasts, this Midwest town has
become the first to pledge that all government buildings
will be built according to LEED Platinum, the highest green
building standard issued by the US Green Building Council.
The city council passed a resolution that all city
buildings more than 4,000 sf will be certified Platinum and
be required to reduce energy use by 42% over current
building code requirements. Other commercial developers in
	the town are following suit...

The History Channel's City of the Future competition has
challenged three architectural teams to create 3D
presentations envisioning how each of three cities -
Washington, D.C., San Francisco, and Atlanta - might appear
100 years from now. Look for team names, bios, and event
dates this week. Vote in February for your favorite design.

ArchitectureWeek is a green publication. By publishing
this professional design and building magazine online-only,
we save about 48 tons of paper monthly, 50 large trees
every week, or 2500 trees a year, compared to reaching a similar
readership on paper - not counting these newsletters!
We provide ongoing pro-bono services to local non-profit
sustainability organizations. And our company offices are
powered by 100% wind energy through our local utility:
