Dear Designers, Builders, and Dwellers,

Green Wednesday, by the editors of ArchitectureWeek, brings you
weekly green design and building news from around the world.

This Saturday, November 3rd, will be a national day of local
climate actions across the U.S., according to Step It Up 2007:

	http://www.stepitup2007.org/

As evidence pours in that shows how conservative the IPCC
projections really were - and how the Kyoto response is hardly
enough to even start making a real difference:

"Levels of greenhouse gases are rising faster this decade
than they did during the 1990s, according to a new analysis.
The research blames the acceleration on a combination of
factors, including economic growth, intensive fossil-fuel
use and, perhaps most worringly, an apparent decline in the
oceans' ability to suck up carbon dioxide from the
	atmosphere."
	Greenhouse-Gas Levels Accelerating - Nature, 2007.1022
	http://www.nature.com/news/2007/071022/full/news.2007.186.html

We really do need to kick into a higher gear, toward full
societal mobilization around the climate change threat.

Maybe we'll see you out there on Saturday!

The sedum roofs of today symbolize performance-oriented
green roof design. Like fine-tuned engines, they run on
leaner artificial substrates with almost no organic
matter; volcanic rock or expanded shale, baked at 2000
degrees Fahrenheit (1093 degrees Celsius), make the
substrates lighter and soil depths as thin as possible.

Architecture Answer - for last issue's quiz...
Steel heated to about 752 degrees Farenheit (400 degrees

ArchitectureWeek is a green publication. By publishing
this professional design and building magazine online-only,
we save about 48 tons of paper monthly, 50 large trees
every week, or 2500 trees a year, compared to reaching a similar
readership on paper - not counting these newsletters!
We provide ongoing pro-bono services to local non-profit
sustainability organizations. And our company offices are
powered by 100% wind energy through our local utility:
