Dear Designers, Builders, and Dwellers,
Green Wednesday, by the editors of ArchitectureWeek, brings you
weekly green design and building news from around the world.
"China has overtaken the United States as the world's top
producer of carbon dioxide emissions - the biggest man-made
contributor to global warming - based on the latest widely
accepted energy consumption data, a Dutch research group
says.
"According to a report released Tuesday by the Netherlands
Environmental Assessment Agency, China overtook the U.S. in
emissions of CO2 by about 7.5 percent in 2006. While China
was 2 percent below the United States in 2005, voracious
coal consumption and increased cement production caused the
numbers to rise rapidly, the group said."

ArchitectureWeek is a green publication. By publishing
this professional design and building magazine online-only,
we save about 48 tons of paper monthly, 50 large trees
every week, or 2500 trees a year, compared to reaching a similar
readership on paper - not counting these newsletters!
We provide ongoing pro-bono services to local non-profit
sustainability organizations. And our company offices are
powered by 100% wind energy through our local utility:
