Dear Designers, Builders, and Dwellers,

Green Wednesday, by the editors of ArchitectureWeek, brings you
weekly green design and building news from around the world.

The climate change compromise negotiated at last week's G8 Summit tops green news this week:

"A messy compromise was struck on climate change to save the
Group of 8 Summit from major failure last week.

"The leaders of the developed countries signed a declaration
that gives a target for reducing the global level of
greenhouse gas emissions, which cause global warming, by at
	least half by 2050.

"But it mentions only the European Union, Japan and Canada as
accepting this target. The United States and Russia will
	only 'seriously consider' it.

"This will allow enough 'wriggle room' for the US government
not to commit itself to a timetable (or at least the same
timetable) for emission reduction. However, Europe, Canada
and Japan have for the first time signalled a self-set
	target to cut their emissions."

ArchitectureWeek is a green publication. By publishing
this professional design and building magazine online-only,
we save about 48 tons of paper monthly, 50 large trees
every week, or 2500 trees a year, compared to reaching a similar
readership on paper - not counting these newsletters!
We provide ongoing pro-bono services to local non-profit
sustainability organizations. And our company offices are
powered by 100% wind energy through our local utility:
