Dear Designers, Builders, and Dwellers,

Residential Tuesday brings you top housing news and analysis weekly
in this free email newsletter from the editors of ArchitectureWeek.

In the aftermath of fierce storms that raked California:

In the construction trades, weather makes the work. At least
	when it's the fence-breaking, tree-toppling, shingle-peeling
	variety.

For many small, independent contractors and their suppliers,
the wet and windy storms that wracked Northern California
earlier this month are bringing a much-needed – albeit small
and short-term – boost to the region's struggling
	construction industry.

At least that's how Patrick Egan sees it. On a recent
morning, the rangy 41-year-old stands at the counter of New
Home Building Supply in south Sacramento, reading his supply
order from handwritten notes inked on his palm: some 4-by-4
rough redwood, sacks of concrete, a couple more 2-by-4s.

	boss" (slang), and "cut brick"?
