Dear Designers, Builders, and Dwellers,
Residential Tuesday brings you top housing news and analysis weekly
in this free email newsletter from the editors of ArchitectureWeek.
The hot real estate market brought huge windfalls for the
heads of U.S. home builders. But while the boom times are
over, shareholder critics say CEO paychecks are not fully
reflecting the gloom...
"These guys made off like bandits during boom times,"
said Michael Garland, director of value strategies
for the CtW Investment Group, an adviser to union
pension funds. "Now the market is in the tank, and
shareholders have lost tens of billions, and these
guys have walked away with their compensation."

Growing a Farmhouse
by Frank Shirley
http://www.ArchitectureWeek.com/2007/1031/index.html
The 1829 Jacob Yoder farmhouse in the rolling hills of
eastern Pennsylvania is crafted from the materials that
surround it: fieldstone, pine, and oak. The patient hands
of time have turned the pine floors amber and the stone

the land and history, which is precisely why the owners,
two refugees from Manhattan, bought it.
