Dear Designers, Builders, and Dwellers,

Residential Tuesday brings you top housing news and analysis
every week in this free email newsletter from the editors of
ArchitectureWeek.

So, can I just come out and say it? This was not a strong week for
housing industry journalism. (Maybe there are some great haunted
houses out there instead.)

Though the short-comings of general housing journalism were highly
in evidence - boosterism, parochialism, and previewism, or the
lavishing of conclusory praise on projects that aren't even built
yet - we've tried to spare you the worst... resulting in a compact
and highly readable short list of stories!

How, and how fast, is manufactured housing getting better? Could it
be better enough to bring some salvation to the New Orleans area -
or just even further diminish some outstanding local housing
traditions? While, in very different markets, straw and steel each
vie with conventional construction...

ArchitectureWeek is a green publication. By publishing
this professional design and building magazine online-only,
we save about 48 tons of paper monthly, or about 50 big
trees-worth every week, compared to reaching a similar
readership on paper - not counting these newsletters!
We provide ongoing pro-bono services to local non-profit
