Residential Tuesday 2006.1128

Dear Designers, Builders, and Dwellers,

Residential Tuesday brings you top housing news and analysis
every week in this free email newsletter from the editors of
ArchitectureWeek.

The U.S. single-family housing market continues to be soft,
as if holding its breath for what's next, with 10% of the
country in an economic downtourn, plus 25% of the country
in an extended correction, according to the latest analysis
from the National Association of Realtors, who have just
released some new numbers today (interesting numbers,
presented amid an embarassing degree of spin):

http://www.realtor.org/press_room/news_releases/2006/ehs_oct06_existing_home_sales_stabilizing.html

Also interesting to compare with the last U.S. government
figures from a couple of weeks ago, even as spun here by the
National Association of Homebuilders, who tend to look at an
earlier stage of the pipeline:

ArchitectureWeek is a green publication. By publishing
this professional design and building magazine online-only,
we save about 48 tons of paper monthly, or about 50 big
trees-worth every week, compared to reaching a similar
readership on paper - not counting these newsletters!
We provide ongoing pro-bono services to local non-profit
sustainability organizations. And our company offices are
powered by 100% wind energy through our local utility.
