4th International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam - Open City: Designing Coexistence

The 4th International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam Open City: Designing Coexistence is opening on September 24, 2009. With a direct link from the street into its largest exhibition hall, the Netherlands Architecture Institute (NAI) will literally “open itself up” to the city of Rotterdam, welcoming visitors and passers-by into a dynamic public forum. A large-scale walk-through model of Open City will fill this space, mixing introductory exhibitions with public activities. The forum will also offer portals to the six international “situations” distributed throughout the NAI. For each of these themes, architects from the Netherlands and abroad are developing research and project proposals, supplemented by documentary and critical work by artists, journalists, and researchers.
