The Isle: A Reading of the Island of Kish in the Persian Gulf

In their new installation The Isle, artists Nasrin Tabatabai and Babak Afrassiabi will focus on the contemporary circumstances of Kish, an island located in the Persian Gulf. At the MAK Center for Art & Architecture, the duo, partners who make up the collaborative team called Pages, will explore notions of “geopolitical indecisiveness” as it relates to this island.
This exhibition at the Schindler House will employ text, video, found documents, and architectural models to offer alternative readings on the incongruities of Kish as a luxury zone within both the historical and current socio-political context of Iran.
