SAINSBURY LABORATORY - STIRLING PRIZE
A stately temple of science has recently been added to the University of Cambridge campus. The limestone-clad Sainsbury Laboratory, a major plant science research center in Cambridge, England, has received the Stirling Prize for 2012 from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).

HADID - STIRLING PRIZE FOR EVELYN GRACE ACADEMY
For the second year in a row, the top British architecture prize has been awarded to a building designed by Zaha Hadid.
The Evelyn Grace Academy in the south London district of Brixton has received the Stirling Prize for 2011 from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). — Published 2011.1005

DOCKSIDE GREEN: PHASE TWO
The second phase of the Dockside Green project in Victoria, British Columbia, recently received a high-scoring LEED Platinum certification from the Canada Green Building Council. Known as Balance, this part of the development comprises 171 residential units in two adjacent towers. It earned a LEED score of 63 points out of a possible 70, matching the score of Dockside Green's first phase, Synergy (featured in ArchitectureWeek No. 401). — Published 2011.0302

In the Flaminio district of Rome, a sinuous concrete building stands on a quiet street. This is the home of MAXXI, the Museo Nazionale delle Arti del XXI Secolo (National Museum of 21st Century Art).

PRITZKER PRIZE GOES TO SANAA
The Pritzker Architecture Prize for 2010 goes to Japanese architects Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa, partners in the Tokyo-based firm SANAA. The jury lauded the pair's work as "delicate and powerful, precise and fluid, ingenious but not overly or overtly clever... creating a sense of fullness and experiential richness." ROYAL GOLD MEDAL FOR I.M. PEI
The RIBA Royal Gold Medal for 2010 goes to an architect whose renown has been built over several decades of consistently producing a very particular kind of structure — often aspired to, rarely achieved.
The characteristic buildings of I.M. Pei stand serene with the elemental dignity of high modernism, while at the same time expressing both the dynamism of muscular structural sculpture and the deep subtle touches of sensitivity to context. — Published 2010.0210
