On a former farm outside Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the Indian Community School aims to connect Native American students with their cultural heritage through both curriculum and setting. PREDOCK'S ARCHITECTURE SCHOOL
In New Mexico, sandstone walls, granite boulders cracked by tree roots, and time-blurred ruins of past civilizations all rise against a cold cobalt sky variegated results of sun, wind, culture, and geology. Architect Antoine Predock cites such elements of the U.S. Southwest as influences on his design of the University of New Mexico (UNM) School of Architecture and Planning in Albuquerque. EDGY IN LA
In June 2006, downtown Los Angeles was overrun with architects in town for the National AIA Convention. When not exploring the burgeoning city center and notable regional architecture, these visitors were eagerly learning about the "next new thing" for the profession.
This year's convention combined big names and varied themes to create a full agenda of educational seminars, architectural tours, trade exposition booths, and business meetings. The event drew a record 25,000 registrants to the Los Angeles Convention Center. Published 2006.0719

Antoine Predock, FAIA, will receive The 2006 AIA Gold Medal; Moore Ruble Yudell Architects & Planners, the Architecture Firm Award; and Thorncrown Chapel is being honored with the AIA's Twenty-five Year Award. AIA HONOR AWARDS 2004
When the furniture company Cisco Brothers decided to build a new showroom in Los Angeles, they realized their impact could extend beyond a single building. They had ambitions to uplift the entire South L.A. neighborhood that is home to numerous furniture manufacturers.
