Architecture Puzzler #506
The high period of Byzantine architecture occurred how many centuries before the beginning of the Renaissance?
Byzantine architecture, most notable for masonry arches and domes on pendentives, was a product of the 5th-century Byzantine Empire. The European Renaissance is usually dated from the 14th to the 17th century, or about nine centuries after the Byzantine period.

Though stylistically anomalous, Byzantine influence can be seen in parts of St. Basil's Cathedral in Moscow, Russia.
