The Des Moines Public Library in Des Moines, Iowa, is a two-story building clad in triple-glazed insulating panel units. The building's distinctive color comes from a layer of expanded copper mesh, laminated between the outer and middle glass panes, that serves as a shading device. Chipperfield also designed the Figge Art Museum in Davenport, Iowa, with Herbert Lewis Kruse Blunck Architecture as architect of record on both projects.
