    10 HILLS PLACE

    10 Hills Place was just another nondescript retail and office compound on the narrow offshoots of Oxford Street in Central London.

    Wrapped in a sleek, sculptural, and amazing new skin, the complex new transformation by Amanda Levete Architects (ALA) has created a larger, more comfortable, and better-performing building, from the actual built fabric of that preexisting jumble.

    EERO'S RINK REBORN, OR... ADDING TO THE YALE WHALE

    It's not often that an architect gets to add to a building that he or she worked on years before, especially after a span of 50 years. But that's the case for the new expansion of Yale's David S. Ingalls Rink, originally designed by Eero Saarinen in the early 1950s.

    WOOD FLOORING - BORDERS

    It may seem counterintuitive, but an ornate floor that runs all the way to the walls of a room can often look less impressive than one surrounded by a simple border.
