    In 1879 Thomas Edison produced a light bulb with a carbon filament that burned for 40 hours. By 1880 he had developed a light bulb using a bamboo-derived filament that would last 1,200 hours. He did not, however, invent the first electric light, or even the first light bulb. The first electric light was invented by Humphry Davy, an English chemist, in which of the following years; 1689, 1749, or 1809?
