Solution to Last Week's Puzzler
Architecture Puzzler #458
Question
If you placed a small, primary-colored red disk on a light-gray neutral background, stared at the disk for a full minute, and then quickly pulled away the disk, you would continue to see a colored disk at the same spot. What color would you see?
Answer
You would be experiencing an optical effect known as negative afterimage, and would see yellow, which is the complementary hue to red, found directly across the color wheel.
