    Quizzical Pursuit
    —The Architecture Puzzler

    Created by Dave Guadagni

    Solution to Last Week's Puzzler
    Architecture Puzzler #446

    Question

El Camino Real ("The Royal Road") linked the 21 California missions built by the Spaniard missionaries between San Diego and Sonoma, California. All 21 were built between which of the following dates: 1658 and 1708, 1711 and 1754, or 1769 and 1823?

    Answer

1769 and 1823. The first two missions were built in San Diego and Monterey between 1769 and 1770, and the last two were built north of San Francisco in San Raphael and Sonoma between 1817 and 1823. The missions were placed so as to be a stiff day's march apart.
