BRICK EXEMPLARS The Brick Industry Association recently announced the winners of its 2008 Brick in Architecture Awards, recognizing outstanding works of nonresidential architecture in which clay brick features prominently in construction. Top honors in the commercial category went to the Acme Brick Company Headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas, designed by Gideon Toal, Inc. (photo by Britt Stokes). The building responds to its sylvan site as well as demonstrating many possible applications of the client's products. Next week we'll see some of the other award-winners and learn why brick was the chosen material.
