Solution to Last Week's Puzzler
Architecture Puzzler #381
Question
What building type would you be designing if you were considering these three types of single-threaded helix combinations: "four-bay, side-by-side," "end-to-end," and "camelback"?
Answer
You would be designing a parking structure. Other forms for consideration would be a three-bay, double-threaded helix; a three-bay, single-threaded, interlocked helix; or a plain, flat floor with express ramp. For diagrams of these and other generic layouts, refer to Architectural Graphic Standards.
