NASHUA, N.H., Dec. 14, 2007 — Looking to create an atmosphere of confidence, security and integrity in its branches, CitiBank chose MB Wellington Studio's LightBlocks for use in its new branches currently under construction across the U.S. Specifically used for check writing desks, customer service desks and other work areas in branch lobbies, this innovative material will have multiple functions in each branch and will support brand association and continuity for all CitiBank locations. The partition "fins" between teller stations will in fact be "CitiBank Blue."
The layout of each branch is unique, requiring desks and partitions made especially for their intended use and to the exact specifications of the layout for each branch. MB Wellington Studios delivers a consistent yet custom made product to each construction site, resulting in the inclusion of LightBlocks in over 100 new CitiBank locations. Custom coloring is uniform with every batch of LightBlocks, facilitating brand identity. "All shipments have been accurate in terms of color consistency and sizing," says Chad Wallen of the idX Corporation (Louisville), one of the mill workers on the project. "They are truly great to work with."
MB Wellington Studio has completed work with numerous financial institutions making it a key industry for the company. The color and durability of the material makes LightBlocks ideal for high traffic areas such as bank branches. Installations have included custom focal walls, revamping customer service areas, transaction tops, teller dividers, walls panels, privacy screens, and much more. Clients have included Bank of America, North Fork Bank, Bank of Georgetown, and First Bank of New Hampshire to name a few.
MB Wellington Studio's ability to transform seemingly impossible design visions into tangible applications has resulted in hundreds of LightBlocks installations worldwide. LightBlocks can turn an ordinary business space into an extraordinary setting, with its ambience of translucency, light and colors. "We understand what it is like to have a vision, and to want that vision to be materialized, whatever the challenge is," says MB Wellington Studio Founder and President, sculptor Mary Boone Wellington. "The only limit to LightBlocks is the imagination of the individual."
LightBlocks Defined
LightBlocks can be custom designed, textured or fabricated for nearly any interior or exterior architectural use, including lighting fixtures, furniture, doors, ceilings, walls, flooring, signage, or sculptures. Custom color samples are shipped within days of request and the lead time of four to eight weeks for final product is remarkably short for custom-designed material. It is made from strong, yet lightweight translucent acrylic or polycarbonate panels, but any polymer may be used as a LightBlocks base depending on the application. The panels can be made in any transparency and any thickness. Beautiful hand pigmented hues can be customized to match paint chips or fabric swatches to produce an infinite number of colors or patterns via a patented technology. In addition, LightBlocks can be cut into any size or shape and is available in a Class A Fire Rated version in accordance with the ASTM E84 test method. Because LightBlocks is custom-made to order in any color, thickness, and any base polymer, acrylic, polycarbonate, or PETG depending on the demands of the project, there is little waste. All excess materials are recycled at the highest possible level, reflecting a dedication to sustainability.
