Question
What is a “jack” arch closest to: a pointed arch, a semicircular arch, or a flat arch?
Answer
A "jack" arch is a flat arch with horizontal or nearly horizontal upper and lower surfaces. It is usually limited to widths of less than six feet (1.8 meters) and loads of less than 1,000 pounds per foot (1,500 kilograms per meter).
