    ArchWeek's Web

    by Kevin Matthews

Traffic measurement on the World Wide Web is far from an exact science, and much of the potential data remains behind proprietary walls. But with two million monthly visitors, the family of design and building web sites led by ArchitectureWeek is arguably one of or the biggest online. We'd like to share with you some of our thoughts on how it's put together and how your participation is supported, invited, and intrinsic.

ArchitectureWeek web sites include the most visited general architecture site (GreatBuildings), the most popular architecture media site (ArchitectureWeek), and the most visited architecture community site (DesignCommunity), based on independent rankings at Alexa.com. Together as a whole, these sites get typically about two million visitors per month, representing a significant portion of participation on the architectural web.

The most basic reason so many people are involved with the ArchitectureWeek web network seems to be pretty simple. We provide easy, accessible involvement with a great amount of imagery, information, ideas, and people — people who love and value beautiful buildings and structures, who create them and use them, both in the current state of the art, and around the world and across history.

Information "published" or presented across our network ranges from seasoned expert perspectives to spontaneous personal opinions, from highly curated documentation on the most timelessly beautiful to literally any building that exists, presented to support anything from casual visual entertainment to deeply comparative design research.   >>>
