Question
While "broach" can be something that happens to a sailboat, it is also used as a verb and a noun in stone masonry. What is a broach in masonry terms?

Answer
"Broach" has several stone-related definitions. Verb: To drill or cut out stone material left between closely spaced drill holes. Noun: A mason's sharp-pointed chisel for dressing stone and also a type of chisel used for working narrow spaces.
