Solution to Last Week's Puzzler
Architecture Puzzler #336
Question
Edward Larrabee Barnes, FAIA was posthumously awarded the American Institute of Architecture's Gold Medal award. He was the sixth person to receive this award posthumously. The best known of the other five had a significant career outside of architecture. Whom do I refer to?
Answer
The other five to be awarded the Gold Medal posthumously were Thomas Jefferson, Eero Saarinen, Richard Neutra, William Caudill, and Samuel Mockbee. Jefferson, the third U.S. president, is undoubtedly the most famous of the group.
