    —The Architecture Puzzler

    Solution to Last Week's Puzzler
    Architecture Puzzler #326

    Question

When you're designing an unheated facility, the anticipated ambient temperature can influence your choice of lamp types. What is the minimum start-up temperature for a standard compact fluorescent?

    Answer

The minimum start-up temperature for a standard compact fluorescent is 32 degrees Fahrenheit (0 degrees Centigrade). If the temperature in your facility will fall below freezing, you might consider fluorescent fixtures with low-temperature ballasts.
