    Green-Friendly Bio Glass

Coverings Etc, a company that specializes in distributing "green" products, has released its newest material, Bio Glass. It can be used for counter or worktops, interior flooring, walls, and other architectural purposes. The 110- by 49-inch (280- by 125-centimeter) slabs are made from 100 percent recycled postindustrial and postconsumer content. They are fully vitrified with a closed surface for easy care. The material is currently offered in white and light green with more color options being planned, and it is available in polished, honed, and natural finishes. Floor tiles will be available soon.

Fashion Comes to Lees Contract Carpeting

The Menswear Collection is modular carpeting that adds tailored sophistication to a variety of contract spaces, including corporate and retail interiors. Inspired by designer fashion, 15 coordinated colors in four tufted and textured, multilevel tip-sheared options are available. The collection incorporates the Integrated Cushion Thermobond™ recycled content backing system and a thermoplastic coating that prevents delamination. The material is impervious to moisture and will not shrink, stretch, cup, dish, or dome. Made with 35 percent recycled content based on total weight, a Lees installation helps contribute to LEED green-building rating credits. The lifetime warranty is valid as long as the carpet is on the floor.

    Minimize Home Disaster Damage

The iLevel™ TJ®-Shear Panel resists lateral loads from earthquakes, hurricanes, and high winds. Even in regions where extreme weather may not be a concern, they offer specifiers and designers more flexibility for framing walls with numerous windows and doors, or with large openings such as garage doors. The panels are exceptionally strong and resist bowing, shrinking, and twisting. Because of their one-piece modular construction, one person can easily install panels of most sizes. They come in a variety of widths and heights and are a part of an integrated package of framing materials, from foundation to rooftop.

    Solar Energy Management

GridPoint Connect™ combines advanced battery storage, power electronics, and a computer to serve as a hub for solar technologies. It simplifies solar integration, provides online energy management, offers clean battery-based backup power, and facilitates the transmission of excess renewable energy into the power grid. It helps home and business owners automatically protect themselves from power outages and reduce their carbon footprint. This intelligent energy management hub is featured in the only two USGBC LEED-H Platinum-rated residences in the United States. These single-family houses are 80-percent more efficient than conventional residences of similar size.
