    DE LA WARR PAVILION

    Located in the British town of Bexhill-on-Sea, the De La Warr Pavilion is a striking example of international modernism. It was built in 1935 by celebrated architects Erich Mendelsohn and Serge Chermayeff and has recently reopened following a renovation that rescued it from decades of neglect and damage.

    POSTCARD FROM NEW HAVEN

    Dear ArchitectureWeek,

    On December 10, 2006, the Yale University Art Gallery, designed by Louis Kahn, will reopen after a $44 million restoration/ renovation. Completed in 1953, the building is considered Kahn's first major work of architecture. Just across the street, to the south, it faces his last building, the Yale British Art Center, which he did not live to see completed.

    CONFIGURING KEW

    Since gaining World Heritage Site status in 2003, the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, on the outskirts of West London, has seen several additions to its building stock. This work is part of a 30-year master plan for the garden to guide the historic site's future development.
