    ABBOTTS WHARF, LONDON

On a former industrial site in East London overlooking the Limehouse Cut canal, housing designers Jestico and Whiles have completed work on Abbotts Wharf. This high-density housing development is situated in an ethnically diverse, up-and-coming regeneration neighborhood with commuter links and views to London's main financial center. Next week, writer and designer Terri Whitehead will describe Abbotts Wharf as a new public presence wedged between the water and a public park. (Photo by David Churchill)

    SHOWCASING STONE AND TILE

Two awards programs were recently highlighted at Coverings 2006, an international trade show and conference showcasing applications in tile and stone. Receiving the "Prism Stone in Architecture" award in the residential category was architect Hugh Newell Jacobsen, for a picturesque stone house that aims to blend with its landscape in Aspen, Colorado. Next week we'll look at more Prism award projects and recipients of the Spectrum awards honoring outstanding use of ceramic tile. (Photo by Ken Royce)
