Located next to a major highway, the newly opened mall includes a hypermarket, a six-screen cinema, a bowling alley, and a wide array of retail and dining options. A glass ceiling and extensive street-level glass facade open the building to the outside.

San Diego, California-based Tucker Sadler Architects has hired Robert H. Kelly as project architect-in-charge of operations and Laura Chioldi, AIA, as a project manager for its Rogers, Arkansas, office. Kelly has 28 years of experience in the design and construction industry, focused on large-scale commercial, health care, and institutional facilities. Chioldi has 10 years of experience in architectural design. In her new position, she performs construction administration for two mixed-use projects and acts as project manager for a transitional housing project.

Construction of the new Detroit, Michigan, branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago is now complete. SmithGroup provided architectural and engineering services for the 240,000-square-foot (22,300-square-meter) complex. The new facility near the historic Eastern Market replaces the bank's previous one in downtown Detroit, built in 1926. SmithGroup used structural materials made of rusticated stone, precast concrete, metal, and glass.

The San Francisco office of international design firm NBBJ has won a national competition to design Stanford University School of Medicine's new Learning and Knowledge Center and to develop a new master plan for their west campus. The 120,000-square-foot (11,150-square-meter) building is the first of five new buildings expected to transform the medical campus over the next 15 years. It will serve as a new gateway to the School of Medicine and a hub for all of its educational activities, in addition to enabling interaction and exchange between students and staff in diverse medical, research, and education fields. Expected to break ground in 2009, the project will be built on the site of the Fairchild Auditorium and will include renovation of adjacent Lane and Always buildings.

On March 8, 2006, North Dakota Governor John Hoeven, Grand Forks city officials, and Canad Inns staff broke ground on a $50 million Canad Inn hotel and water park complex designed by JLG Architects. Located next-door to the city-owned Alerus Center stadium and convention facility, also designed by JLG Architects, the 192-room hotel and 40,000-square-foot (3,700-square-meter) water park are designed to attract tourists and conventions to Grand Forks, North Dakota.
