    International design firm Cuningham Group Architecture, P.A. has announced the opening of its newest office in Las Vegas, Nevada. Cuningham Group has worked in the Las Vegas region for years, with clients such as Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc. and Clark County School District. The Las Vegas office will focus on resort, hospitality, entertainment, and educational projects. Joining the firm’s Las Vegas office are Richard Danielson and Ronald Davison. Richard Danielson, AIA, has more than 30 years of experience on a variety of project types, including casino resorts, mixed-use, retail, leisure and senior centers, parks, government buildings, and master plans. Ronald Davison brings more than 20 years of professional experience, including entertainment, gaming, and hospitality building types.

    Steinberg Architects, of California has completed the design for a 165-unit transit-oriented condominium project in Glendale, California. Developed by the Urban Housing Alliance of Los Angeles, the 253,000-square-foot (23,500-square-meter) project will cost an estimated $50 million. It will be within walking distance of bus and Metrolink train stations, retail areas, and a hospital. The development's design includes two retail spaces, mini-storage, and a large landscaped central courtyard. Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin summer 2006. The Steinberg Architects design team includes Dave Mitani, AIA, principal-in-charge of the project; Steve Deyer, AIA, project manager; and Michael Miller, designer. Consultants on the project include Ed Babayan & Associates, structural engineer; SWA Group, landscape architect; FARD Engineers, Inc., mechanical and electrical engineer; KPFF, civil engineer; and Veneklausen Engineers, acoustical consultant.

    GTM Architects of Bethesda, Maryland, has announced the promotion of Diane Taitt to partner. Taitt joined GTM in 2002 as a senior interior architect and project manager. She has since led numerous award-winning projects, including office interiors for EYA Urban Properties, GTM's new office, and Creative Associates. As partner Taitt will continue her work within the interior architecture studio and will take a more prominent role in shaping the firm's direction.

    The New York office of STUDIOS Architecture has been hired to restore and modernize the exterior ground level of 2 Park Avenue, New York, New York. The 29-story art deco building spanning the block between 32nd and 33rd Streets is currently under consideration for historic designation. It was designed by the New York architect Ely Jaques Kahn, one of the most prominent commercial architects of the 1920s. The renovation will include removal of a series of 4-foot- (1.2-meter-) high teal blue metal panels, installed on the building in the 1970s, to reveal the original cast bronze bas-relief window spandrels. STUDIOS will modernize the deteriorating street-level storefronts, incorporating 14-foot- (4.3-meter-) high glass panels in projecting metal frames between the existing granite and sandstone piers.

    Monica D. Pascatore, LEED AP, has joined the architectural staff of GWWO, Inc./Architects in Baltimore, Maryland. She has a background in hospitality and commercial projects and four years of prior experience. At GWWO, Pascatore is a member of the design team for a new education center at the Russell W. Peterson Urban Wildlife Refuge in Wilmington, Delaware.
