Thornton-Tomasetti Group has announced that Eric Hammarberg has been promoted to vice president from senior associate. Hammarberg brings over 17 years of architectural experience in planning, designing, and managing major restoration projects. Based in the New York office, Hammarberg joined Thornton-Tomasetti Group in 1996 and specializes in historic preservation projects. He has worked on many Manhattan projects and restorations, including the facade restoration of the Chrysler Building, the development of the master plan for the General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church in New York's Historic Chelsea District, and structurally maintaining several of Brooklyn's Prospect Park landmarks.

Three new vice presidents have been name at Corgan Associates, Inc. of Dallas, Texas. Jonathan Massey, AIA was recently promoted to vice president of Corgan's Aviation group, Helen Danby, AIA has been promoted to vice president of Corgan Interiors, and Renee Sneed was promoted to vice president of human resources. Massey will now be responsible for developing and delivering all forms of aviation projects, while Danby will be responsible for managing interior renovation projects for corporate and healthcare clients.

San Diego, California-based Lyons Warren is providing structural engineering services for the remodel of a 10,738-square-foot (998-square-meter) building within Temecula Town Center in Temecula, California. Glenn Mouritzen is serving as structural engineer for Lyons Warren. Benson & Bohl Architects, Inc. is the project architect, with president Randall Bohl providing oversight. The wood-framed retail building will be remodeled to include a new wood trellis and arched entryways.

Construction is 80 percent complete for the new 58,232-square-foot (5,410-square-meter) multitenant shell office building designed by Smith Consulting Architects within the Carlsbad Research Center in Carlsbad, California. The project is being developed by Colleen Blackmore of The Blackmore Company. The $6.5 million two-story concrete shell tilt-up building will have a two-foot-high coved cornice to top the building’s parapet. Scott Cairns is the principal-in-charge for Smith Consulting Architects, with Bill Sharon serving as principal design architect.

Cubellis Associates of Boston, Massachusettes has merged with Virginia-based Design Concepts Architects (DCA). DCA is a team of architects and designers specializing in housing and commercial developments, as well as early childcare/ education centers. Rohit Anand, president of DCA, will be joining Cubellis as a principal and shareholder, and Smita Anand will join as principal. Cubellis's merger with DCA is the firm's third in the last eight months. Cubellis merged with a New Jersey firm in June of 2005 to form Cubellis Ecoplan and a Chicago firm in September to form Cubellis MGDF.

The Washington, D.C., office of global design and services firm HOK (Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum) has appointed Francisco H. Laurier, ASID, as principal and director of interiors. In this position, he will direct the practice’s diverse group of award-winning interior design specialists. Most recently, Laurier served as vice president and director of the workplace practice at EwingCole. Laurier’s design portfolio includes prominent projects for The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, Olympus America, SCA Americas, The American Red Cross, and others.

Designed for the Arcus Foundation by Cambridge Seven Associates, Arcus Depot is a historic 1874 passenger depot station and warehouse in Kalamazoo, Michigan that is being transformed into modern, affordable offices and community spaces. The centerpiece of the $7 million project is a 1500 square foot (140 square meter) Winter Garden. Listed on the Michigan Register of Historic Places, the site of the 5,000-square-foot (465-square-meter) passenger station has been carefully restored to its former character.
