    HONORING URBAN DESIGN INTERNATIONALLY

“Design for an Emerging World” was the theme of the recently announced Cityscape Architectural Review Awards. The awards celebrate excellence and initiative in architecture and urban design in Africa, Asia, and South and Central America. Next week we’ll review the award recipients including Veritas Architects Sdn. Bhd. for the Western Transportation Terminal, Putrajaya, Malaysia, an integrated transportation hub that brings together multiple modes of public transport under one roof.

    EPICENTER OF DESIGN AND SUSTAINABILITY

The new Boston home for Artists for Humanity (AFH) is a creative combination of hard-working architecture and sustainable construction (photo by Richard Mandelkorn). In a building dubbed "EpiCenter," the nonprofit AFH's mission is to give inner-city youth opportunities to express themselves through art and to make a living at it as well. Next week ArchitectureWeek contributing editor Michael J. Crosbie will show how Arrowstreet Architects have combined education, discipline, and sustainability.
