MEETING OF MINDS AT THE HIGH

Early November saw the opening of a major expansion of the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, Georgia. With the original High Museum (1983) by Richard Meier and the new expansion by Renzo Piano (photo by Timothy Hursley), the cultural institution now bears the marks of two of the world's leading architects. Next week, writer Lisa Ashmore will show us the new addition and discuss the blending of two "signatures."

    MODELING LIVING SYSTEMS

Photorealistic architectural presentations can actually confuse more than they clarify. By attempting to look real, they can hinder the potentially creative conversation between architect, client, and the general public. However, digital presentations that emphasize explanatory diagrams can successfully elucidate complex sustainable systems. Next week Ethan Leander Timm, an architectural designer with Living Designs Group, will explain how the technological tools his firm uses allows them to model complex living systems that underlie architectural projects.
