Sandra Partridge has joined Heery International, one of the nation's leading architecture, facilities planning, engineering, and construction management firms, as project manager. Based in the firm's Long Beach, Califonia, office, she is responsible for projects throughout the "Inland Empire" (California's easternmost counties) and surrounding areas. Prior to joining Heery, Partridge served as an interior designer for Seal Furniture of San Diego where she was responsible for designing Knoll Equity, a line of systems furniture that was used in office buildings throughout Riverside County. Previous positions also include working as a design consultant for the County of Riverside Department of Public Social Services and as an account executive of G/M Business Interiors, Riverside, California.

Paul Gunther announced that, following a six-month internation search, Victor Deupi of the University of Notre Dame School of Architecture has been appointed as The Arthur Ross Director of Education of The Institute of Classical Architecture & Classical America. Deupi will assume full responsibilities from the New York national headquarters on January 1, 2006 and will act as a consultant starting in September, working with the academic programs committee and staff to determine the spring 2006 semester along with other related initiatives now possible under his watch. Prior to Deupi's 1998 arrival at Notre Dame, where he is currently an assistant professor of architecture, he taught at the Prince of Wales's Institute of Architecture in London and at the University of Miami, Coral Gables. In addition, he has published widely on a variety of design topics including new urbanism and the humanities underpinning the classical tradition since its inception.

Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph, Michigan recently awarded a contract to BSA LifeStructures to design a new patient pavilion. The four-story patient pavilion will include 120 all-private patient rooms. While this is a freestanding facility, it will link to nearly all of the hospital's main arteries with a direct connection to the intensive care unit. It also will include a new customer service area, which will house a hospital concierge desk and be connected to a new parking garage through an enclosed walkway. The $66 million project is scheduled to open in 2008.

A new luxury condominium development, Place 57 in New York, New York, is currently rising at 207 East 57th Street. Designed by Ismael Leyva Architects on behalf of New York based developer, The Clarett Group, the 68 new condominium apartments will offer buyers luxury residences in a 36-story glass building. Place 57 will offer no more than two apartments per floor, on average. Many of the residences will have panoramic river-to-river views with Central Park as a focal point. Place 57 will also include a state of the art fitness facility, resident’s lounge, a children’s playroom, and individual storage units. Construction began in December 2004 and will be completed in early 2006.

Steinberg Architects, a California-based architecture, planning, and design firm, has named Dan Cheetham, AIA as principal. Cheetham is responsible for overseeing the firm's newest office in San Francisco, and will play an integral role in expanding the company's capabilities outside of California. Some of his recent projects include: the expansion and renovation of the Dallas Galleria; the historic restoration and renovation of the Ferry Building; the adaptive reuse of Pier 1, a historic waterfront structure that was converted into an award-winning class 'A' office space as well as the first major public/private partnership on the San Francisco waterfront; and the design and master plan for the future Transbay Terminal, the area's first multimodal transportation facility located in San Francisco.

Daniel M. Bundy, a commercial designer with nearly two decades of experience, has joined Ellerbe Becket's Kansas City, Missouri office as an interior project manager. He has practiced for more than 17 years in Kansas City and Oklahoma. Prior to joining Ellerbe, he was an interior designer with Gastinger Walker Harden Architects of Kansas City. In eight years there, he worked for such clients as Sprint, KCPT Public Television, and General USA Life Reassurance. Bundy will help build Ellerbe's growing corporate and sports interiors practice.
