POLSHEK PARTNERSHIP'S RECENT WORK
The William J. Clinton Presidential Center by the Polshek Partnership, occupies a city park along the Arkansas River in Little Rock (photo by Timothy Hursley). The building’s dramatic glass-enclosed, bridge-like form symbolizes President Clinton’s “bridge to the 21st century” and makes reference to the six bridges that cross the river. WHY AN AIRPORT FAILED
Ten months after a disastrous roof collapse at the Charles de Gaulle International Airport in Paris killed four travelers and injured three, an investigation by independent structural engineers has now concluded. The unusual roof was a shallow, glazed vault; its shape and the innovation of construction were faulted for the failures, which writer and architect Christian Horn will explain.
