AIA HONOR AWARDS IN NEW ENGLAND
The New England chapter of the American Institute of Architecture has presented honor awards for "Excellence in Architecture" to four projects throughout the northeast region. One is a writer's studio by architect Carol Wilson of Falmouth, Maine. The client wanted to take advantage of the beauty of the site and views across Somes Sound, while respecting the fragile landscape (photo by Brian Vanden Brink). Next week we'll see why this and the other projects deserve special attention.

GREEN ARCHITECTURE IN GAINESVILLE
At the University of Florida in Gainesville, the new home for the School of Building Construction is leading the way toward campus sustainability. Rinker Hall was designed by Gould Evans and the Croxton Collaborative, working jointly with staff, students, and construction managers to address a broad spectrum of environmental concerns. Next week writer Lauri Puchall will describe how the building (photo by Timothy Hursley) has raised the bar on this campus, where all future buildings must meet or exceed LEED silver standards.
