Architecture Puzzler #229
What is a "haha" and where did the term originate?
Thanks to Jessica Tankard, student at the University of Virginia School of Architecture, for this quiz question.
A "haha" is an earthen berm that separates two ground plane levels; the term originated in England to refer to the sunken fences that kept sheep from stomping across the front yard of a manor while preserving an unfenced-looking view to fields beyond.
