    CMI Introduces Extira Composite Panels

Architects now have a strong, moisture-resistant exterior panel product with the debut of Extira®. This solid-panel treated wood composite provides rot and termite resistance previously not available with medium-density fiberboard (MDF), plywood, and wood. Available in a variety of unprimed panel dimensions and sizes, Extira is used for any nonstructural application that commonly requires wood or MDF. It is ideal for exterior millwork applications such as shutters, column wrap, and rosettes, and in interior applications such as around dishwashers, sinks, or other areas prone to moisture. It machines well, allowing easy sandblasting, routing, carving, priming, painting, and adhesion of other materials to it.

Walls and Ceilings that Breathe Light

Lighttex Soft Egg Crates from Lighttex Canada is an architectural system that offers a new way to control light and define space. Lighttex Soft Egg Crates are composed of modular, interlocking cloth grid panels held in place by an aluminum T-slot system. Lighttex can be fashioned into flat, diagonal, or wavy walls, space dividers, or floating ceilings. They distribute daylight and electric light in a soft, diffused pattern. (800-417-7431)
