FABRICATION IN ARCHITECTURE
Digital technology is helping breed new generations of architectural forms, some of which appear to be born of science fiction. To discuss new ways of shaping buildings, expert architects, scientists, and educators came together at a conference, "Fabrication," jointly serving the academic and practitioner communities. Next week, West Valley College professor Celine Pinet will summarize the conference and explain this structure by University of California at Berkeley professor Lisa Iwamoto and her students, who use digital technology to design structures for the human body.

EDUCATING BOSTON BUILDERS
Every November, the conference and trade show "Build Boston" offers seminars, award displays, and special programs. Tens of thousands of architects, engineers, contractors, owners, and assorted construction professionals attended this year's event. One presentation, by the Sullivan Code Group, showed how upcoming changes in building codes will emphasize a new approach to dealing with fire in multiple locations. Next week architect and author Evan H. Shu, FAIA will explain this and much more of what occurred at the 20th Build Boston.
