ENGINEER HONORED FOR ILLUSTRIOUS CAREER
Engineer Charles A. DeBenedittis, senior managing director for design and construction of Tishman Speyer, has received the Henry C. Turner Prize for Innovation in Construction Technology. During an innovative 50-year career, he managed the construction of some of the world's most noted buildings, including the John Hancock Tower in Chicago (photo by David Owen), the World Trade Center in New York, and the Messeturm office building in Frankfurt. ARCHITECTURAL COMPUTING
The evolution of computer-aided design in architecture can be viewed as the search for technologies to meet the traditional needs of a profession. Alternatively, perhaps more interestingly, it can be viewed as the search for new roles that technology can play in architectural design processes. Next week, architecture professor and architectural computing pioneer Yehuda Kalay will explore this latter theme.
