    Quizzical Pursuit
    —The Architecture Puzzler

    Created by Dave Guadagni

    Solution to Last Week's Puzzler
    Architecture Puzzler #210

    Question

The sound level of 10 decibels (dBA) is considered just audible, 70 dBA loud, and 130 dBA the threshold of pain. A hard rock band will typically play at 80, 100 or 120 dBA?

    Answer

A garbage disposal is about 80 dBA; crowd noise in an arena is about 100 dBA; and a hard rock band is about 120 dBA. The sound level of 140 dBA is considered deafening.
