HONG KONG'S INTERNATIONAL FINANCE CENTRE
As the new headquarters for the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, the International Finance Centre, designed by Cesar Pelli, perches on the beautiful Victoria Harbour and marks a new gateway to the city. The project, which houses retail and restaurants in addition to offices, is said to be the first "plane-crash-proof" highrise building completed since September 11, 2001. Next week we'll tour the building and scale its height.

TRASHY ARCHITECTURE
The "Chapel of Second Chances," intended for second-wedding ceremonies, is the creation of architecture students at the University of Oregon. It came about when a local recycling center challenged them to design and build an open air chapel out of reused materials, make it somewhat portable, and complete the task within a ten-week term. Next week professor Michael Cockram will describe how his students rose to the challenge and gave used building materials a second chance.
