RESIDENTIAL WORK OF ROBERTO PEREZ-GUERRAS
A cobalt blue dome tops the neo-vernacular architecture of the residential complex Costa Hispania, in Santa Pola, Spain. Noted Spanish architect Roberto Pérez-Guerras applied Mediterranean themes to create a collection of richly varied spaces, both inside and out. Contrasts of private and public, shade and sun, land and water characterize the houses and grounds. Next week we'll tour Costa Hispania and one of Perez-Guerras's residential highrises.

Next week writer Susan Smith will describe his view of how architects can take more responsibility for controlling the detrimental environmental effects of their buildings.
