HISTORIC HOUSE SAVED FROM AUCTION BLOCK
The famous Farnsworth House, an icon of mid-20th century modernism, designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, was in grave danger in December 2003. It was for sale at auction, and preservationists feared it might be purchased by an owner who would move it from its original setting and/or make it inaccessible to the public. Next week we'll review how preservationists won the day and see what their plans are for the landmark house. (Photo by Jon Miller, Hedrich Blessing)
