    BUILD BOSTON 2003

    The World Trade Center in Boston was a hotbed of educational activity in mid-November, 2003 as some 15,000 architects, engineers, contractors, owners, and assorted construction professionals attended the 19th annual Build Boston conference.

    AIA GOLD MEDAL FOR SAMUEL MOCKBEE

    The late Samuel Mockbee, FAIA, has just joined Thomas Jefferson in an elite club of architects who have received AIA Gold Medals posthumously. The widely admired Mockbee was a practitioner and educator until his death in 2001. The American Institute of Architects announced on December 4, 2003 that they would confer on him their highest honor.

    GOOD DESIGN, GOOD BUSINESS

    The 19-story Price Tower by Frank Lloyd Wright has recently been restored to productive use. A childbirth clinic in Japan is leading an effort to change public attitudes toward women's health. And a new building for the venerable Natural History Museum in London provides much needed climate-controlled labs for delicate specimens.
