    Quizzical Pursuit
    —The Architecture Puzzler

    Created by Dave Guadagni

    Solution to Last Week's Puzzler
    Architecture Puzzler #175

    Question

The 1921 “Ethical Documents” of the American Institute of Architects prescribed a minimum charge for architectural professional services. This “proper minimum charge” was a percentage “based upon the total cost of work complete.” What was this percentage?

    Answer

Six percent. The documents went on to note that it is proper to charge a higher rate for residential work, alterations, and other special cases.
